Competition time!

With Valentine’s Day on the way we thought we’d have a little competition so even those who are unlucky in love could get lucky (with us!). So here at id-iom headquarters we thought we would give a little something away to two lucky winners for Valentines Day. For a chance to win one of a very limited number of id-iom t-shirts (we don’t have all sizes so you may have to gift it!) and a print to go with it all you have to do is ‘like’ our facebook id-iom page and then you will be added to the draw. Here’s the link to our Facebook page.

If you already like our page then you are already in. We’re just nice like that. Then on Valentines Day we will go the id-iom randomiser and randomly select the fortunate winners…

Cheers

Shot through the heart

Shot through the heart

Shot through the heart

With Valentine’s Day swiftly approaching we thought it best to turn our attention to affairs of the heart and see what we could come up with in recognition of this day of love.

Bon Jovi once famously sang that they’d been shot through the heart and noted the fact that you were to blame. Well, short of the whole blaming you for it thing I thought I’d turn that sentiment into some art using the magic of stencils and spraypaint. In fact that’s given me an idea for a little street piece…

Be still my beating heart

Be still my beating heart

Be still my beating heart

Apparently the earliest citation for the term ‘be still my beating heart’ comes from William Mountfort’s Zelmane from 1705:

“Ha! hold my Brain; be still my beating Heart.”

Now I quite like that quote and think it’s a nice romantic concept so I thought I’d give it a little id-iom twist just in time for Valentine’s Day. Apparently Sting did a song called ‘Be still my beating heart’ but i’ve neglected to link to it as i’ve taken a hit for the team and it’s really not that good. On the plus side though I’ve also got a related bit of street work to go with this so as long as the weather holds we should have something up in time for the big day. This piece is created using the magic of stencils and spraypaint and is on a nice big bit of A2 paper. I’m sure it would make the perfect give for somebody’s special someone…

You had me at whagwan

You had me at whagwan

You had me at whagwan

Since living in Brixton I’ve become enamoured with the phrase ‘Whagwan’. For the uninitiated, the phrase means ‘what’s going on’ in Jamaican Patois. The spelling varies but the meaning does not change. And you can hear it all over the place.

Anyway, once I’d combined that with a nice little romantic statement, hey presto, I had a fully formed idea that, after a little further work, became this little declaration of love. It’s on A3 paper and is made using the magic of stencils and spraypaint.

Glastonbury…

Glastonbury 2007 – A year to forget

Glastonbury 2008 – A year to remember

Thankfully id-iom have managed to get their hands on tickets for Glastonbury again this year and I thought it might be appropriate to craft a small memento commemorating past years. I have been fortunate enough to attend all available festivals since my first attendance as a festival virgin in 2000 – and have thoroughly enjoyed every one come rain or shine…

With it being held in the UK the one thing you can never guarantee is the weather and regardless of whether it’s glorious sunshine or raining cats and dogs there is always superior levels of amusement to be had. In fact I perversely enjoy the inclement weather somewhat as it really does sort the men from the boys. In 2007 we had the torrential rain for pretty much the entire festival (just like in 2005!) which left the site like some apocalyptic swampland. Then a year later it’s blazing sunshine and tans all round.

Both pictures are based on a photograph of me enjoying the comfort of a pile of rubbish whilst sheltering from the blazing sun under an umbrella I’d found lying around. It probably prevented me from getting sunstroke that year…

They are both A3 in size and signed on reverse. Here are the Ebay links:
