Dead bad shot
This picture was painted on the run up to Christmas where we are inundated with strange & nonsensical perfume and supermarket ad’s, there’s Christmas songs playing non-stop and I also heard some carol singers (I actually quite like carol singers and they are one of the things i enjoy about Christmas). It’s meant to be Spring time now and this post is still accompanied by freezing conditions and high winds. What other time of year could it possibly be? To throw our Springtime hat into the ring we bring you ‘Dead Bad Shot’. It features a lot of red. Like roses. And blood.
This one is definitely from left field and is probably some kind of portal into my tar black soul. I’m probably baring my innermost fears and don’t even know about it. I’m sure a psychiatrist could probably have more fun with this than the old Rorschach test. Anyway I have to go as there are other dark and creepy thoughts just begging to be let out of my head and set down on paper. Toodle pip for now!

Two heads are better than one
id-iom is made up with two of us so we can attest to the adage of two heads are better than one but unlike this picture one of us isn’t a girl, well i say that but the other half can certainly act like a little school girl sometimes…

Bark or Bite?
We sold another version of this picture a short while ago and then a friend got in touch saying she’d failed in her attempt to snaffle it on eBay and could she commission another from us. As it’s her birthday very shortly we sent it along as a gift in lieu of the fact that we will be unable to attend. So ‘Happy Birthday!’ You know who you are…
It’s based on an old Celtic design that was in a book which was lying around in our dearly departed studio. This was one of several designs that I was thinking of getting it done as a tattoo so I thought I’d see how it looked before I’d commit ink to skin. As i’m a fickle beast I have since changed my mind and will, in fact, be going for a photorealistic teal duck. Probably. Maybe this one will get a look in next time…

And love to no one…
There I was sorting through the attic last bank holiday when I found an old box containing old photos and other such ephemera belonging to my long lost second uncle twice removed. Needless to say we knew little about him until we found this box and could not work out how on earth it ended up in the attic. In fact we’re not even sure he is even our second uncle twice removed…
The box contained some photos of the man in question taken whilst travelling the world (but I won’t bore you with them now as they are every bit as dull as your own holiday snaps), some letters which I might one day reveal (but they are a little saucy for your average reader as he was an avid whoremonger!). What I can show you though was a painting that accompanied his last missive and after reading it it seems clear that this is the reason he is ‘long lost’. To cut a long story short he felt that no one loved him and because of that he was going to give love to one. How sad 😦 If only I’d have known I could of given him one of my famous ‘this’ll make everything better’ hugs (as seen on TV). Maybe next time…

Seeing something strange
I seriously can’t wait for Spring time to actually make an appearance. I’ve spent too long on my own at home making up pictures as a result. I definitely need to get out more…
I came up with this as some kind of accompaniment to a friend’s story about a dream he’d had which involved an extended hallucinogenic experience. He still looked crazier than a thimble full of baby snakes while he was telling me.

Pretty misery turns me blue
The other day i completed a similar picture whilst it was raining on a Sunday. Over the last few days though it has beeen absolutely freezing with my fingers turning blue as i was sitting trying to paint or so i thought (probably just a little bit of embellishment on my behalf there).
Anyway i decided to paint the girl again this time though reflecting my mood with the weather ouside a hey presto! what do you get? A picture of a topless woman staring at the floor but this time she’s blue of course.
Cheers

Never underestimate rabbits
I think the clue is in the title on this one. We all know that rabbits are hardly trustworthy at the best of times right? Well i can safely say that you can never underestimate one that tests make up on itself! They are definitely the worst kind and not to be trusted under any conditions. You can just see it in their beady (but beautifully made up) little eyes.
Consider this more of a warning sign than anything else. My work here is done…

International Foreign Policy
There I was in Nanjing doing some work in my capacity as international archaeologist adventurer when i happened across an important archaeological artifact that sheds some light on Victorian international relations. It’s a small fragment of the original Treaty of Nanking that was presented to the Chinese by the British after the treaty was ratified by Queen Victoria and Doaguang Emperor in 1842. This was, of course, back when the British Empire was really something to behold and British foreign policy was perhaps a trifle more aggressive.
As befits my part-time international adventuring job (sadly it pays better than art) I hastened the document out of the country at the first opportunity from under the noses of the curious authorities (therein lies another tale for another time). Nonetheless it is an interesting curio with a certain historical value that should fetch a handsome sum from some museum or other. I believe Queen Victoria had thought it amusing to get this decorative addition made up so they would get the message that little bit more clearly and respect our swagger. How simply delightful!
