Broken thinking

We’ve had great weather recently and I’ve largely been thinking appropriately sunny thoughts but after reading that up to a third of Britons are apparently just one paycheck away from homelessness I’ve had to take a quick detour to a slightly darker place. It seems to me that once a small problem somehow grows into something larger then it’s hard to avoid a series of negative thoughts that can have a succession of negative consequences that can then spiral and link together to force you even further down. It’s not something I really like to consider very often but in reality it’s not hard to see how easily it can happen if circumstances conspire against you…

Take it from the champs, graffiti is for chumps.

After watching Style Wars for the first time recently I decided to cut myself a ‘Take it from the champs, graffiti is for chumps’ stencil based on the New York subway’s anti-graffiti campaign that ran in the 80’s with the same tagline. I couldn’t decide which font I preferred so thought it best to cut them both and give them a quick test spray to see if I could pick a winner that way. Alas I’m no closer to choosing which I like so will be using them both.  I’m hoping to use this as a little sign off on some of our bigger pieces so you’ll hopefully be seeing a bit more of them soon…

Fear not for the future, weep not for the past

Fear not for the future, weep not for the past

Fear not for the future, weep not for the past

This picture came about via a commission but eventually they didn’t choose this design and went for something entirely different. As I always liked this one however I thought I’d go ahead and paint it up anyway. I wouldn’t usually do this as designs that have been done for a particular commission are usually discarded or partially recycled because they had there time to shine and didn’t quite make the grade. This one though managed to pass muster though although i’m not really sure why.

This old soldier has the right idea though:

‘Fear not for the future,

weep not for the past,

From ‘The Revolt of Islam’ by Shelley
