Temper tantrum

If you’ve ever had the misfortune to be on the receiving end of a serious tantrum from a disgruntled toddler because they were denied another hour of toy unboxing videos on youtube or somesuch then you’ll know where I’m coming from with this one. One minute they’re all cool and calm and within seconds of giving them the bad news that they’ve got to put the tablet down you can see the drawbridge coming down and the big guns coming out.

Before you know it they’re shouting and screaming and then you’re stuck in the moral quandary of being emotionally blackmailed by a small child. Do you back down and give them the tablet back ‘just for 5 more minutes’ to get a bit of peace and quiet or do you stick to your guns and force them into a highly melodramatic blowout? The choice is yours…

As an aside, cutting through thick perspex with the cheapest jig saw money can buy was somewhat problematic and the kid cutout we have here is actually the second version as I managed to snap the head off the previous one. Needless to say I almost had a temper tantrum myself.

Sometimes there’s nothing we like more than heading to the gym for a tough session – of painting! Now i’m hardly proud of it but this job was the most time we’ve spent in a gym for more years than I care to count. It’s a concept gym (you wear a heart monitor and try to remain at the goal heart rate bpm whilst you’re working out) in Southgate and they needed some corresponding imagery to give the space a little lift.

A load of design revisions later and we had some pared down images approved and ready to go. They could only close the gym for a day so it was going to be one long shift to get it all done in one. At least we remembered to bring our masks with us this time. Ten hours later and we had the last stencil done and dusted. Given the relative darkness and the fact that the corridors are quite narrow  the photo’s are about as good as we’re going to get.

Bored & Affectionate

Bored & Affectionate

This young lady has been on leave from work for about 3 weeks now for a small operation she had but don’t worry it wasn’t anything serious. It only took about 10 minutes in surgery and then another 10 minutes to heal yet she has still been signed off work for what seems like an eternity. So long in fact that she has now become quite bored and as a side effect become quite affectionate to any and all of those around her as she hungers for companionship. Her parents live up north, she doesn’t have a boyfriend, the cat’s already fed up of all the attention and to top it off all of her friends are on holiday in Croatia. Needless to say she’s completed the internet and is now itching for something or someone new to do…

Some people just get too carried away and this lady is no exception. There she is lounging around her house during the day just dreaming of the things that could be and to say that they are pure thoughts would be an absolute lie. She used to have a decent job but after having twins gave it up to look after the pair of them. Now though the children are at school which means she sits at home all day with little to do. The next person who rings that doorbell better watch themselves or it’ll end up like something out of Reader’s Wives…

The Moon Rabbit

Legend has it the Moon Rabbit comes in the night to steal children’s dreams. He must be stopped.

If you’ve been a long time follower of our work you may have noticed that we seem to have a disliking for rabbits – but that has not always been the case. It all started a few years ago when the younger member of id-iom was walking home from the pub a little worse for wear. Next thing he’s surrounded by a group of pint sized leporine hoodlums asking if he’s got a carrot he can lend them. Thinking it a joke he tries to push his way past. Big mistake. The rabbits take this as a personal affront and set upon him with their long teeth and comically oversized feet. He barely managed to make it away alive and he doesn’t like to talk about that day.

Now he see’s evil moon rabbits everywhere – including the random cracks in wall plaster. It’s all I can do to ensure he takes his medication and stays on the straight and narrow. Don’t say we didn’t warn you about rabbits when they finally launch their bid to become our new overlords…

Toowit Toowoo

This picture is a bit of a weird one as it has gone through so many iterations to get this far. The only thing that has stayed the same is the ‘Wanted: Vole killer’ bit and not much else. Originally there was a picture of a anthropomorphic cat with a gun, then a picture of a vole looking like a thug but eventually setting on a strange looking owl. I’m not sure there is much to it than that, it’s been a long time coming…

I imagine that, like most people, at one time or another you’ve thought ‘aren’t chameleon’s cool?’ or ‘wouldn’t it be great to be a chameleon?’. Well, the life of a chameleon might sound like fun but all that changing colour to blend in with your surroundings can get tiring. Especially when people literally don’t even see you and act like you’re not even there. And trying to catch flies with a big sticky tongue? Don’t even start me on that. I’ve a slight case of hyperopia and can see objects far away just fine but objects with tongue range are generally blurred and difficult to focus on. So catching dinner isn’t that much fun at all. Plus I’m actually a pygmy chameleon so I’m no bigger than the end of your thumb. So perhaps you don’t want to be a chameleon after all…
