A few years ago I went to the gym to get fit and be healthy as everyone kept telling me how good it would be for me. I’d only been going for about a week when I started to feel extremely ill. After a little self-diagnosis I went to the doctor to confirm I had type 1 diabetes. You may well wonder how going to the gym managed to give me diabetes. Well, one of the first questions that the doctor asked me was ‘Have you done anything unusual/new in the last few weeks?’ and I had to inform him that I had recently started going to the gym.
