It’s not like team id-iom needs much in the way of reasons to head to the pub so when we got the call from a new pub, The Perky Nel, in Clapham South (on the site of the now deceased Gigalum and Oblivion bars) to say they needed some inspired interior design to brighten up an area by the kitchens we were happy to oblige.
After a bit of toing and froing we finally had an agreed design bringing a bold nature inspired heart design to the area around the serving hatch. Featuring flowers, badgers and an SW4 banner it’s a little ode to the Common. Although how many badgers are still knocking about in there is anyone’s guess…
Given Hollywood’s proclivity for constantly remaking films we thought we’d jump the gun with a promotional poster for our dark reimagining of Wind in the Willows for the 21st century called ‘The Willowz’. Think of it as a loose sequel to the perennial children’s classic. But darker. And with more animatronics.
It’s set 15 years after the original where kind and benevolent Badger has become a mad and despotic dictator. He’s killed all the original characters and sold half of Wild Wood to developers to fund his ever growing addiction to prescription drugs. Some say it was all due to a bout of TB he contracted in 2006.
Our heroes consist of a female human eco-warrior who has managed to round up the descendants of the original Mole, Ratty and Toad to end the tyrannical rain of Badger X as he’s now known. Cue a Stormzy remix of the original animated Wind in the Willows music and we’re good to go…
ON A3 paper made using the magic of Watercolour, acrylic, paint pen and glitter. Drop us a line if interested.
After Badger’s well-publicised and acrimonious split with Bodger in the late 90’s he took his half of the money they’d amassed and spent it all on mashed potato and headed for his pimped out sett in Sandbanks. It was there that I found him as we wanted to use him for an upcoming project. After a photo session and some design we had this stencil ready to go. It was at this point the project was cancelled and now I don’t know what to tell him. This single version is all I’ve got. He’ll be crestfallen. And probably pretty angry. And we all know what angry badgers are like. Maybe I’ll just tell him it’s postponed and fit him in somewhere else. Watch this space…
