The Golden Era of Eva

Eva had quite a different lockdown to the rest of us. Rather than just collect her furlough money and play Xbox for months she decided to better herself. Through some decidedly dodgy forums she found a place in Russia that would help you to improve your mental skills in 3 months or your money back. And we’re not talking Sudoku or crosswords here we’re talking telepathy, psionic abilities and telekinesis.

Now she could move objects with her mind and bend others to her will and she was really quite looking forward to her upcoming chat with her boss about pay and a possible promotion…

In reality Eva has been languishing in development hell for the last 3 years. She was started and never completed until recently the Muse gave me the nod to get this Eva finished. The application of some gold, some wavy black lines and some carefully placed splodges of black ink was all it took but I’ve found it’s better not to rush these things.

Cheers

3D Specs

I’m no expert on 3D so imagine my delight when I came across a magic drawing pad that would turn my doodles into 3D – or so it proclaimed. Admittedly my experience with 3D is limited. Once at the cinema many years ago and my own two eyes. That’s about it.

Now I realise it’s not going to suddenly turn it into a fully rendered 3D model exactly but I was expecting a little more than it gave me…

Vacant obscurity

With lockdown 3.0 thrust upon us all by the powers that be Timothy is starting to feel strange. He thought all this would be over by now, that the world would be back to normal, that he could leave the oppressive flat he has been in for what seems like forever. That is not the case though sadly, instead, Timothy has had to occupy himself for close to a year and things are now starting to get weird.

He’s tuned one of his eyes to pick up QAnon conspiracies using the 5g microchip that Bill gates implanted using the covid radiating pigeons. The other he uses to watch reruns of short-lived musical police drama ‘Cop Rock’ on repeat. Between both eyes he feels like he has reached peak cognitive dissonance. This has led Timothy into a state of what he likes to call ‘vacant obscurity’. He’ll likely be this way until March…

It is A4 and made using acrylic, oil pastel and paint pen. Drop us a line if you need him to adorn some uninspiring wall…

Cheers

Hindsight

It’s a beautiful thing isn’t it? Hindsight that is. If only I knew then what I know now, things would have been very different.

Frankie here can be a bit of a nightmare – as i’ve just found out. In passing one day I mentioned that she may make an interesting subject to paint and since then she just keeps turning up at the studio and taking her clothes off. I asked repeatedly to stop doing it but she kept saying she wanted to be painted. There was only so much of her hanging around drinking all the tea and eating all the biscuits before I had to relent and paint her anyway.

Afterward I told her about a nearby life drawing class and she’s now become a full time life drawing model. At least she seems happy now and people dropping by the studio no longer wonder why a naked woman is hanging around…

She is on A4 and made with the magic of imagination, smoke, pencil and acrylic.

id-iom’s attic gems sale!

It’s the id-iom ‘attic gems’ sale! Updated every Sunday!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/thisisidiom

With a double combo of moving house and studio we’ve come to realise that we’ve got a prodigious pile of art that has been collecting dust while we move onto whatever shiny art idea next caught our attention.

Sales has never really been our forte so we’re looking to rectify that. If you’ve only ever dreamed of owning an original id-iom piece then now’s your chance. It would probably have been a weird dream though.

Admittedly our first plan was to street drop everything but were convinced that perhaps an ‘everything must go’ eBay sale was perhaps the way forward instead so we’ll be putting up fresh stuff weekly until it’s all gone. Sales or death. It’s the only way forward so come and help a brother out…

We’ll be updating our eBay page with new pieces every Sunday.

The sketchier side

There I was rooting around in all the art stuff that we have collected over the years when I come across a device that I just didn’t have a clue what it was or what it even could be. After a little interweb research I came to the conclusion that it was a ruling pen. Now i’m really not sure where we picked this up but i have to say i kind of like it as it does give a really good straight line.

Sadly that’s not what i used it for though, instead i just started writing my name and making a mess, that’s when my housemate came along and started doing exactly the same. Anyway there i was a few days later leafing through my sketch book when i see this page and thought i’d draw a little face amongst all the mess.

Cheers
