The Moon Rabbit cometh…

Leporine lord of the shadows Barry the Bastard has once again crash landed in my life and decided to make my life a complete misery by invading my dreams and trashing the place.

Like a lot of these things it all started innocently enough. I was chatting to a friend on Zoom without realising they had their pet rabbit Mr Snugglebus on their lap and was I telling them about my well founded fear of rabbits when he hoisted the sneering rabbit into view and tried to tell me they were cute. That was my first mistake. The second was to think that Mr Snugglebus might keep his big trap shut. Now, I’m not calling Mr Snugglebus a grass but I’ve now had six consecutive nights of rabbit based nightmares featuring Barry. Sleep is my enemy. The Moon Rabbit is coming…

I think perhaps I need to get out more. This lockdown is getting to me…. It is A3 in size and made using the magic of one’s sleep deprived imagination, oil paint, paint pen and acrylic. Drop us a line if you’d like it to grace your walls…

Cheers

Strawberry Letter 23

We were commissioned to produce a 1m x 1m canvas for a very discerning and influential couple for their new house (seriously, they’re the power couple behind one of the UK’s biggest soaps). The canvas was to be based on the song ‘Strawberry Letter 23’ by Shuggie Otis. It’s a great song and you really should give it a listen. With such fine pedigree to work with we knocked out some designs lickety-split and that was when it all really began…

This large commission now has the dubious distinction of being the picture that has taken the longest time from conception to completion than anything else we’ve ever produced. We’re talking well over a year. When it was finally deemed complete my relief was palpable.

She’s on a 1m x 1m canvas and has been painted using all the paint we could find seemingly. She’s now safely ensconced in her new home in sunny Manchester. Let’s all wish her luck…

Cheers

Stay cool

Stay cool – now on ebay

So here’s second of the pieces that came to light when I was tidying up recently. I thought we’d already sold this stuff and now it’s time to remedy that so here it is on ebay.

With Valentine’s Day not so far away it seems quite fitting. It’s been a while since i’ve been in the situation this chap finds himself in. He’s done all he can; got himself dressed up nice, got some flowers and found himself the right door to knock on. From here on in it’s no longer in his hands and the best he can do is put his best smile on and pretend he’s all confidence (which, he’s been informed, the ladies love). I can only wish him the best of luck…

He’s from an edition of 5 and is an eminently frameable A4 in size. They are all hand finished with different colours and it’s been completed using the magic of screen printing, paint pens, spraypaint and stencils. Signed on reverse.

Cheers

City of Dreams – Whitecross Street Party 2013

City of Dreams - WXSP 2013

City of Dreams – WXSP 2013

On Sunday we packed up the idiomobile and made our way to the Whitecross Street Party to paint for the second time (thanks to Teddy for inviting us back again) and what a day we had. To say the sun was out is a bit of an understatement to say the least, one half of id-iom was certainly feeling the effects after having a little too much fun the evening before. That said at least we managed to finish the piece even if it was with sweat running down our faces like Niagara falls.

For this piece we decided to go with a girl in the colours of the Joker. I can’t tell you why though because i had nothing to do with this design. Whilst the other half of id-iom was busy designing, cutting and getting ready for Whitecross, I was sunning myself in Mallorca on a cheeky little 4 day holiday.

Some of the other artists involved over the weekend included: Mydog sighs, Miss Wah Wah, Fletch, Leeks, Parlee, Nathan Bowen, Zadok, Dep, Airborne Mark and Jimmy C (to name but a few).

As is always the case when a bunch of artists are kicking around the same street corner we all end up getting a little giddy. My case in point is the electrical junction box that was situated just next to where we were all painting. We’d put Poet Mouse on it last year and I was glad to see it was still there. Once that had been noticed everyone decided to get in on the action. Oooops!!
