Keen followers of id-iom will know that we like to put a little write up with our pieces. Today is no exception but it appears we’ve run into a small snag. Neither of us can seemingly come up with anything suitable for today’s decidedly lovely painting. She’s a wistful looking lady gazing off stage left. That much is for sure.

It’s usually quite obvious (to us at least) what the blurb will be. But not today. It’s veered from being related to the boredom of lockdown to living in a crashed space station to shouting at your own private parts. I wish I was making it up. Now, in the fruitless search for a write up, I’ve had to go all existential and write about my inability to come up with something to write about. Meta. Take from it all what you will…

If you’d like to give her a home drop us a line etc. It is A2 on high quality Bockingford paper and made using Acrylic, paint pen, watercolour pencil and spray paint.

Help I’m trapped!

It’s been a good while since we’ve treated you to another exciting instalment of ‘Other People’s Graffiti’ so here it goes. As graffiti goes I think this one is quite special as it just goes to show how creative kids can be if you give them a bit of chalk. It would seem most kids have gone for flowers and the like but one rebellious little tyke has gone straight for lettering and next levelled it with ‘help i’m trapped’. Aren’t we all. If he recognises the existential pain of existence at that age he’ll make a great artist…

How can I tell her?

I’m not sure if i’ve ever suffered an existential crisis on the level that this man is currently having to deal with. Sure, I’ve had some strange notions from time to time but this guy’s desperation at his inability to tell his lovely lady that they aren’t really lovers and are, in fact, just stencils is somewhat heartbreaking. Life can be tough, can’t it?

It’s a very different experience painting outside in winter compared to summer. It’s freezing cold, wet and windy and you have to finish by 4pm as it’s pitch black.

No sooner had we got our stencil up and begun applying the very expensive UV reactive white paint to the boards that the rain sweeps in and washes it all straight off. What fun.

Our idea was to paint the boards up so they’d look good in normal light but would really kick when you put UV light on them. Despite the inclement conditions we eventually prevailed. Albeit a day later than planned…

How Can I Tell Her?

First up this week we’ve got a stone cold id-iom classic ‘How Can I Tell Her?’ in our eBay shop. Just follow the link below:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392160474258

I’m not sure if i’ve ever suffered an existential crisis on the level that this man is currently having to deal with. Sure, I’ve had some strange notions from time to time but this guy’s desperation at his inability to tell his lovely lady that they aren’t really lovers and are, in fact, just stencils is somewhat heartbreaking. The swirling maelstrom of his thoughts is reflected in the somewhat random background. Just how is he going to break it to her? Life can be tough, can’t it?

This little beauty is on A3 paper and will look lovely once framed.

How can I tell her we’re hitting the street?

Here we’ve got an existential classic from the id-iom stable. Just as I was getting a little bored during the spring clean of my ‘studio’ I came across the old ‘How can I tell her?’ stencils and thought putting that on canvas for a little street drop is a far better use of my time than actually doing any cleaning. I think my favourite aspect of this picture is his desperation at his inability to tell her that they aren’t really lovers and are, in fact, just stencils. Life can be tough, can’t it?
