It’s all fun and games…

We haven’t posted for a while but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy – because we have. We were tasked with coming up with a nice Christmas design with a little id-iom twist. Which is sometimes tougher than it sounds. After a few schmaltzy design dead ends we finally hit on the ‘fun and games’ quote which seemed just perfect for a Christmas party. Once we’d thrown some green fade stripes and festive baubles on the design we were good to go.

The classy foldable board is about 2.5m square and is to be used as a dancefloor backdrop for an upcoming Christmas event. They’ve got some UV lights which will strobe on the board once it’s in situ so we included some UV reactive paint on the lettering and some little snowflakes which are otherwise invisible. Unfortunately we don’t have a blacklight in order to test how well it worked but I’m quietly confident. To finish we also drilled a few holes in the baubles so we could put some fairy lights through for that extra pizzazz. We couldn’t leave the boards out all day in order to get a twinkly night shot so you’ll just have to trust me that they look the business. That is all.

Cheers

Tand-fé (Gaelic for Tooth Fee)

Tand-fé (Gaelic for Tooth Fee)

Tand-fé (Gaelic for Tooth Fee)

Do you know what happens when you try and hide your baby teeth from the tooth fairy? Nothing good that is for sure. Most people think of the tooth fairy as a benevolent entity helping kids with a little pocket money in exchange for their small and useless baby teeth but it turns out that just isn’t the case.

A friend’s little girl had just lost one of her teeth and her mum told her to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy – but the child was having none of it. Her first question was to wonder why the fairy wanted her teeth which the mother couldn’t rightly answer. Her second question was how much could she expect to get for her tooth on the open market (she’s a precocious child) which her mother also couldn’t truthfully answer but lied and said ‘Hmmm, what do children normally get? About £3.70 i’d say.’ ‘Never’ the child replied ‘I have ten times that amount in my piggy bank and this tooth is a part of me, the money will not sway me!

So, that night, while the child is asleep the tooth fairy visits but can’t find the tooth under the pillow. After silently ransacking the room she finds it in the child’s piggy bank and vows silent vengeance on the mother for not teaching her child the correct way of doing things and wasting her valuable time. So she sneaks into the parent’s room and steals a tooth straight from their mouths while they slept. Here ends the lesson.

Believe it or not this picture features some real human teeth which was just part of the haul we got in our weird but wonderful christmas gift of a box full of teeth.

Don’t Cry Son

Don't Cry Son

Don’t Cry Son

We’ve all been there as a kid when we’ve had an accident and all of a sudden the world seems a dark and daunting place. What a poor soul this boy is… He’s hurt his knee but he has no need to worry as he has a fairy godmother. The fairy on the picture is whispering – ‘Don’t cry son. A plaster is on it’s way’. This is offset somewhat by the legend at the bottom saying ‘Pain is life’. He’ll soon learn. And I doubt that fairy godmother will hang around forever…

It is A2 in size and is made using the magic of acrylic paint, watercolour, spray paint and paint pen. Signed on reverse.
