We fight because we must

With the memory of the Extinction Rebellion protests in Central London still fresh I thought I’d design a propaganda poster of sorts. The speed at which we humans are destroying our own biosphere is nothing short of astonishing. If only we could apply ourselves to less destructive activities we may even have a chance still. So, we fight because we must.

She will make a fine hot foil print. Watch this space…

If only it was just my ego

Today on eBay is ‘If only it was just my ego’. Click the link below to check it on eBay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392171244637

I was in the studio the other day just minding my own business and painting away quite contently when this chump walks in and starts talking out the side of his neck at me. Although somewhat taken aback by this vitriolic outburst I initially managed to remain calm and ask him what on earth he thought he was doing. It was only when he reached for the canvas I was painting that I swung into action.

From there it escalated quickly. Once the dust had settled and we’d picked ourselves up off the floor we managed to work out what had happened. It turned out that I’d mistakenly walked into his studio and started working on his canvas (I thought it looked a bit different to the last time I was working on it but I just thought that was the other half of id-iom) and so he’d got a little tetchy with me. In way of making it up to him I promised I’d do him a portrait. And this is what he’s getting. That’ll teach him to talk to me like that…

All your slaps are belong to me

So in an update to yesterday’s post the cat has now taken control of the stickers. She’s definitely more agile and fearless when climbing stuff than I’ll ever be but I fear she’ll have problems getting the backing off. Only time will tell. If she succeeds I for one welcome our new feline overlords.

If you’re in a fair fight…

Here at id-iom there are a few things we love. Sunny days. Painting. And dispensing wisdom. Today we have the opportunity to combine all three and ‘If you’re in a fair fight…’ is the result. The original inspiration for this design came from the Polish fighter squadrons of WW2 who escaped to Britain to fight alongside the RAF after Poland had been invaded. Somehow that nugget of inspiration morphed into this piece. The muse works in mysterious ways. Anyway, as long as you’re digging the sage advice this dashing pilot is dishing out then all should be well. Just remember, failing to plan is planning to fail.

He’s on A2 paper and is made using the magic of spraypaint, stencils and imagination. If you’d like to give him a new home then drop us a line.

If you’re in a fair fight…

I’ll be honest. We’ve used this image before. The original was painted on a wall. The second was a commission canvas piece and now we have the little brother laser cut on wood.

This little beauty is, as mentioned, laser cut on wood then lovingly hand painted. She’s about 40 x 28cm of id-iom certified goodness. Drop us a line if interested.

Other People’s Graffiti (Ju Jitsu car park edition)

I’d love to have thought this was an actual bit of street art but, alas, I think it’s just a weird sign. I still thought it deserved a spot in ‘Other People’s Graffiti’ though for the mental image it creates. A ju jitsu car park? A car park in which one must perform in a series of ju jitsu fights in order to win the right to park? Or one in which you may park freely but ju jitsu trained warriors will perhaps jump you on your way to the ticket machine? I’m confused. You’ll be happy to learn we didn’t have the car with us at this point. Things could have got ugly.

If you’re in a fair fight…

After seeing the wall version of this here piece which we painted a while back we were commissioned to produce a canvas version and here’s the result…

Go on! Put ’em up

Go on! Put 'em up

Go on! Put ’em up

Now for something a little different… Check out this feisty little bugger. He’s just spoiling for a fight and he’s got you in his sights! If you’re not careful he could get you with one of his right hook, left hook, uppercut combos. I’m not entirely convinced of how much damage it would do though as it looks like his skinny little wrists would shatter if he punched anything tougher than a pillow. It looks like they would sprain as he tried to swing his arm through the air!

Is it irony that he was bestowed with an unforgiving and aggressive attitude but has very little to back it up with? It’s difficult to tell how tall he is from the picture but I get the impression he’s quite small but a bit punchy and probably has something of a Napoleon complex. However effective he thinks he is in the ring I know I’d back a 90 year old granny to take the crown off this chump and become King of the Ring.
