The eye. Is it googly?

The main, pertinent and only real question you should be asking yourself right now is ‘is that a googly eye?’ I’ve done my research and can guarantee you it isn’t.

Just yesterday the other half of id-iom asked why I was using a googly eye as a weight to hold down a stencil. I told him I wasn’t but he didn’t believe me until I lifted up the much painted tuppence coin in question and showed him. He still didn’t believe me even after I had put the coin back down. So there you have it. People will believe what they want.

Self diagnosed Covid-19

Karen had never even been anywhere near China. The closest she’d come was the china Wedgewood plate set that had been given her by her aunt and she’d disinfected the whole set just to be sure as soon as the whole Coronavirus thing had started in China. She’d been fretting for days. She’d even made her son burn his entire collection of Wu Tang Clan music and memorabilia to be on the safe side because it sounds a bit like Wuhan. Yet, when she looked in the mirror she knew something wasn’t right. Despite all her precautions, it would appear she’d come down with something after all…

It is A2 in size and made using gouache, acrylic, oil pastel, googly eyes and a touch of imagination.

It will be up on our big cartel page soon…

Gorilla glue #4

Gorilla glue #4

Gorilla glue #4

So there I was having a nice quiet drink when someone comes along and offers me some gorilla glue. Being the astute artist type I am I say yes thinking it’s a brand of masking tape. Little did I know it was actually intergalactic grade hyper skunk and feeling beholden to the man I took a few leisurely drags on the zoot. To my dismay the worst possible thing that could happen, did happen. I did my best impression of a ghost and pulled a whitey! Needless to say I didn’t get to finish my drink as I stumbled off home whispering sweet nothing to myself. Eventually though I found myself at my front door feeling pretty good but the question was ‘Do i go back to the pub or do I just go inside to bed?’. Well I answered that by sitting myself down and drawing how I just felt. And I think you can guess what this picture is about…

P.s. I’ve just found out that there actually is a brand of masking tape called ‘Gorilla Glue’, when will i learn!

Too much funk

Too much funk

Whilst in the studio recently trying to come up with ideas for the inaugural Cheltenham paint festival amongst other potential jobs that we have on I had the music blaring. I thought it was on random/shuffle but to my dismay I must have turned it off and my player started in on the psychedelic love funk category – which can only be listened to in short bursts or there is a high risk of becoming a certified risk to yourself and anyone around you.

Luckily this time I was alone but that just meant I tumbled into the hole of psychedelic funk without anyone to help pull me out. I’m not sure how long I was down there but I only came to after the other half of id-iom walked in and after seeing me quickly turned off the music. I was in a bad way for quite a while but the NHS helpline advised me to paint a self portrait to try and counteract the effects. Anyway, this is the result of a heavy session on the psychedelic love funk. Be warned.

Hand dryer is wondering exactly what it is you’re up to…

Googly eyes are my new favourite thing. I don’t leave home without them these days. They can add a little sparkle to the dullest of days. Although I do have some concerns that it will be like when someone gets a new kitten and can’t help posting pictures of it. I fear there will be a few more googly eyed inanimate object pics before I’ve had my fill. I will, however, try to keep it to a fair minimum and ensure only the highest quality and inspirational bits of eyebombing make the grade. Here’s a hand dryer looking slightly worried about exactly what it is you’re upto…
