Last time we saw this design it was on paper and featured only the smaller wallpaper logo. Since then I’ve decided a more permanent and slightly larger commemorative artwork was appropriate so decided to do another version of the design on slate. For those new to class our local pub has closed recently. It lives now only in our memories. In better news however it’s hopefully due to reopen with new management after a bit of refurbishment. It’s unknown what they’ll be doing decor-wise so I thought it best to capture a little of it’s old character in case it disappears altogether.
Some of the old wallpaper was of indiscernible age but had a favourable design so I thought I’d generate a little commemorative artwork from that for no other reason than it seemed like a good idea at the time. What we’re left with is ‘time to drink’ featuring a modified wallpaper design featuring a little cocktail set and a skull and crossbones. And there you have it.

I like it and think I’ll go ahead and turn it into a larger stencil so it’ll make more sense on a bigger wall…
It’s been in the pipeline for a good while now but we finally managed to get our wall completed in our local boozer in Brixton, The Hand in Hand. After batting potential designs back and forth for a while we finally came up with a winner in the wall of quotes featuring Winston Churchill quotes, an ambigram, a watercolour & stencilled wallpaper background and my favourite quote of the lot ‘Don’t take life too seriously. No one is getting out alive…’
One of the obvious problems with working in a pub (for us at least) is the proximity to beer. We overcame this potential pitfall by starting early and having a breakfast beer to aid in the creative process. Three and a half pints later and we were all done and dusted. Then it was time to get out of there before we got in too deep and spent the entire day in there…
There was a time a short while ago when our local publican was thinking of selling up and moving on. This, as you can probably imagine, caused a certain amount of consternation within the local pub-going fraternity. After much speculation they found some new people to take over and they duly took charge. Thankfully they appear to be fairly motivated to bringing a few changes which can surely only be a good thing – although saying that the extended opening hours have left some confusion as to what time I actually manage to make it to bed sometimes… Anyway, as they are giving the place a well needed lick of paint we thought it only fair to give them something to adorn their newly painted walls…
