Maybe tomorrow my friend

We are all in the middle of a global pandemic, Tier 3 has just been activated in London, Christmas is looming ever closer and the weather is simply shocking. Don’t let that bring you down though, instead, why not simply engage in some extreme procrastination and write today off and maybe even the rest of December. Perhaps January and February too just for good measure..

Do you dig being dilatory? Would you generally prefer to be back in bed? Do you think things sound classier in Latin? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions then we have just the product for you! id-iom’s new range of demotivational artworks are ideal to give you that extra little nudge you need to justify to yourself whatever decision you’re about to make. It’s that simple! Anyone can use them!

She’s on A2 paper and the Latin text ‘Maybe cras amici mei’ (which translates as ‘Maybe tomorrow my friend’) will make your friends think you’re both educated and sophisticated. Voila! She is made using the magic of spraypaint, stencils, glitter, acrylic and imagination. If you’d like to give her a new home then get in touch. I completely understand if you can’t be bothered today though…

Cheers

Nomina Stultorum Parietibus Haerent

Here at id-iom we are generally unashamedly low brow but that doesn’t mean we don’t like to mix it up every once in a while and fire something a little more pretentious and contrived your way just ‘cos we can. There I was reading an article about the Roman city of Pompeii when inspiration struck. As i’m sure we’re all aware Pompeii was destroyed during the eruption of the nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. Apart from the bits that were destroyed there was a blanket of volcanic ash a few metres deep which covered the entire town and preserved it for future generations to discover.

In amongst the more grisly discoveries there was a lot of graffiti found on the walls which shed some light on the day to day goings on in ancient Pompeii and the musings of the common man – and that was enough for the seed of an idea to germinate. I’m not expecting South London to get hit by a giant volcano any time soon however so who knows how long our graffiti will last?

Anyway, what does it all mean? I could just give you translation but in this day and age it’s only a google search away so I’m afraid you’ll have to do it yourself if you’re at all interested. Howzat for interactive street art?

Cheers

There’s no place like home

There’s no place like home

There’s no place like home

I do so like getting a good commission. For this one we had to come up with something that would bring a bit of colour to a tired white board that had been fitted over an old fireplace. As the fireplace is something of a focal point in the room we wanted to come up with something fitting.

After initially going down the slightly obvious route of recreating some kind of actual fireplace (complete with painted flames) we decided that whilst that could be quite nice in wintertime it would be a little odd in summer so we decided to change tack and go with something that would bring a little colour to the room all year round. The Latin text reads ‘There’s no place like home’ and we also have a lovely young lady (in a swimsuit, naturally) who has launched herself from somewhere on high and is about to land safely in the comfort of a large hand that is waiting to catch her. There really is no place like home…

Cheers
