Why my cat is sad…

My cat is sad because I had to swap her for a woodend stunt cat as she wouldn’t sit still long enough for my highly amusing photo shoot featuring a cardboard lion. Now she just stares listlessly out of the window thinking about the time she almost became a bigger internet star than Maru; the cat who will attempt to sit in any size box. Her sadness is compounded by fact that was irked by my repeating the mantra ‘big cat little cat cardboard box’ whilst setting up the shot and now she can’t get it out of her head.

The lion sleeps tonight

I think my psychic powers must finally be improving. Just a couple of weeks ago I cut a stencil of a winged lion and then, sure enough, just a few days later the biggest story on the internet is of the dentist from Ohio who illegally Zimbabwe’s most famous lion, Cecil, whilst on an illegal hunt. I think it fair to say the hunter has most definitely become the hunted and Mr Palmer will have to live in fear of his own safety for some time to come. I’m sure there’s something fitting and karmic in that. Anyway, here’s our little tribute to poor old Cecil who has undoubtedly become more powerful in death than he ever was alive. The force is strong in that one. And where better to put it than Cecil Road. In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight. Wimoweh.

Punch Drunk

Punch Drunk

Punch Drunk

If you’ve ever seen The Wizard of Oz (and let’s face it, everybody has) you’ll surely remember the cowardly lion pretending he’s tough and raising his fists whilst challenging scarecrow and the tin man to ‘Put ’em up, Put ’em up!’ Well, it would appear this guy has the same problem apart from the fact he’s usually incredibly drunk and an all round nuisance. He’s even swaggering around wearing a crown. Of all the cheek. Someone ought to teach him a lesson…

Wha’ Gwan?

‘Wha’ gwan?’ is a phrase often heard around our neck of the woods so i thought i’d do a little tribute to our Jamaican bredren. I have always liked the sound of patois although it can sometimes be a little difficult to understand. I will probably do another little post once this has hit the streets but i haven’t quite decided where it should go yet. I’m pretty much spoiled for choice around Brixton but a good placement would be ideal.

I thought it only fair to include a Lion of Judah on there too as a nod to Haile Selassie (we have cut a stencil of him before as part of our celebrity heads series – see here).

Jah Rastafari!
