There’s no need to tell me

Paula and Robbie had been dating for just over 6 months now and were attending their first dinner party as a couple. Everything had been going well, the main course had just been taken away and they were awaiting dessert. That’s when it all started to go wrong. Paula managed to catch Robbie’s eye over the table and that was enough for her to know something bad was going to happen. She’d seen it happen once before – although she still wasn’t entirely sure what ‘it’ was.

It starts first with a look of wild incomprehension, followed quickly by some barking noises and then Robbie would start speaking in tongues. This could go on for some time before he’d suddenly shake his head and start speaking normally. Paula decided she’d seen enough so hurriedly excused herself from the table and went to help in the kitchen…

Remember the Alamo (Phil Collins – No Context Required)

Who’d a thunk it? Before he donated it to a Texas museum back in 2014 Phil Collins had the largest collection of Alamo memorabilia in private hands including Davy Crockett’s fringed bullet pouch and Jim Bowie’s legendary knife. Apparently he’d been obsessed with the Battle of the Alamo since watching something about Davy Crockett on TV when he was a kid and then indulged himself once he’d made some moolah as an adult. Today’s out of context quote is Collins’ reply to reports belittling him for his supposed belief that he was at the Alamo in another life.

Anyway, I’ve juxtaposed his quote with a wide eyed young lady who looks a bit like a clown. Once you’ve liberally sprinkled a few pilfered logos in and adorned it with a green & yellow background then you’re good to go with another successful ‘No context required’ piece. It’s laser engraved on wood then hand painted and stands proud at 39 x 26cm. Drop us a line if you’re interested…

The footballer commission

Through a friend who had one of our pieces we were asked to do a commission for a professional footballer. After filling out our patented questionnaire (to be found under ‘downloads’ on our website) and getting it back to us we set to work. After many a false start and designs that we couldn’t agree on we came up with the idea for ‘No Loitering’.

As ‘loiter’ was one of his favourite words we thought we could use that along with a couple of other points which were brought up in the questionnaire to create something brand spanking new for him. As ever, the most nerve-racking part is just when you are about to unveil it but fortunately this seemed to go down just fine (as i have now become something of an expert in trying to decipher people’s faces when you present them with their unseen commission!)

Anyway , the end result can be seen below…
