No not me, never not

No not me, never not

No not me, never not

So the UpFest crew has gone and produced another amazing book celebrating eight years of The Urban Paint festival and the hundreds of  related artworks that have been produced by artists from far and wide. To celebrate the launch they will be selling 100 unique hand painted book presses (50 in Bristol & 50 in London) which will house the new book. All book presses will be blind wrapped and randomly sold making each copy a proper surprise! Oooh exciting!!

Anyway we were asked to paint up one of these fellas and this is what we’ve come up with. ‘No not me, never not’ is a common phrase for us to use as one of our general day-to-day rules is to deny our involvement in any given situation. It’s generally safer that way. So we thought we’d share this pearl of advice with it’s new owner. But rather than plaster one of our ugly mugs on something that may well be staring at someone from their bookshelf for eternity we thought it best to combine our rule of thumb with a more photogenic subject. Apparently that’s called marketing and it’s proved to be effective. So let’s hope it’s new owner will heed our advice of never admitting to anything (unless you have to). Here ends the lesson.

Error 404: Advert not found

With the somewhat gusty weather we’ve had recently this billboard has managed to peel itself naked. And that, of course, is quite the affront to any self-respecting urban artist. So with our woolen thinking caps pulled down firmly on to our respective heads, we came up with a quick joke on the idea of the advert not being there.

We presumed the matter to be time sensitive as we weren’t sure when the ad man would be back to shove more tasteless shots of half naked women down our gullet so quickly set to work cutting a stencil. This is probably the reason why its so small compared to the actual billboard or at least that’s the story we’re sticking to. It was definitely nothing to do with the fact it was measured ‘by eye’…

Forget me not

This guy is a bit of a loner and has resorted to the art of magic and hypnosis to make friends. The one thing he imprints on all the people he uses his skills on is ‘Forget me not’ so that they won’t ever leave him.

Sadly though he’s not very good at either magic or hypnotism. For one his hands are far too big to do any slight of hand tricks apart from blocking people’s view of the the tricks due to their large size. And while i’m at it check out his eyes, only one of them can do the hypnotist’s swirl. This means people just end up feeling queasy instead of the intended hypnosis. Maybe he’ll get better with time…

Me Not Pretty

Me Not Pretty

Me Not Pretty

Can somebody help me get this monkey off my back? Actually it’s not a monkey but some kind of over-sized monocle wearing raccoon. You don’t see that every day. Now comes the science: looking at her T-shirt does that mean she is pretty or not? I’m not entirely sure what it means or what she thinks it means but I think she is a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark and dank world. And so does the raccoon hitching a lift on her back it would seem.

That’s all i’ve got for today. I never promised it would make any sense…

The Game of Love

Some in-progress shots (and final shot) of our latest piece – The Game of Love. This picture reminds me of my (misspent) youth although I suppose a picture of a gambler/fruit machine would perhaps be more fitting….
