The shadows of pleasure

There I was having a few drinks late on Friday when inspiration struck. In front of me were a few empty beer cans, a pencil case and a few other bits and bobs needed to make quick work of the empty bit of paper.

Using the shadows from the beer cans I’ve created this minimalist piece which is a step away from what we normally do. Invariably we would stick some text or maybe a face across the middle of it and call it finished. This time though a modicum of restraint was used and I stopped before I could carry on. Everyday is a school day…

Right you are Cap’n!

It’s funny how thing often come full circle. When I was a young whippersnapper I wrote a very short story about a seahorse called Cyril and his family. This was duly put away and then rediscovered in the attic many years later. Much hilarity ensued at my juvenile storytelling abilities but it got me thinking. What exactly would Cyril and his family be up to now?

In this piece we can see Cyril’s previously unnamed son, Marcus. He’s had a few holiday jobs growing up including an interesting stint at Blockbuster Video but now though he’s a seaman on a fake navy vessel called the Scubatuinne (“Wave sweeper”) that hosts parties for bored and very rich housewives. He mostly just serves champagne and hors d’oeuvres whilst the boat goes up and down whichever stretch of waterway that a customer has chosen for their few hours of ‘fun’.

He can’t say he’s particularly happy with his station but he’s hoping it’s a stepping stone. The job he’s really looking for is to one day be captain of his own vessel. Cyril and his mum would be so proud if he could manage that.

It is on a 1×1 m canvas and made using the magic of imagination, acrylic, spray paint, paint pen and glow in the dark resin. As Marcus works on an imaginary party boat I thought it only fair to add a little phosphorescent glow to the piece as a nod to the bioluminescence of the sea and the kind of party boat he works on. Drop us a line if you’re interested in giving Marcus a new home.

USR&MM Stoya Pleasurebot

Here’s our latest piece that is currently on ebay

If you’ve ever read any Isaac Asimov books (and if you haven’t then you’re missing out) then you’re probably aware that many of his books concern robots which were created by his fictional company ‘USR&MM’ (which stands for U.S Robots & Mechanical Men).

Now I’m sure that Asimov didn’t exactly have ‘pleasurable’ purposes in mind when he developed his ideas on robots but you know that if we had these kind of things in the real world it would only be a matter of time (probably just minutes) before somebody had the bright idea of fitting them out for the oldest profession.

Anyway, here we have the promotional posters for the cream of the robotic crop. The state of the art, Android powered, ‘Stoya’ model Pleasurebot. In shops now…

She’s A3 in size and comes from an edition of 5 which are all different and hand-finished. She has been completed using the magic of screen printing, spraypaint and stencils. Signed on reverse.

Cheers

Anyway, here we have a somewhat phallic looking promotional poster of sorts for the cream of the robotic crop. The state of the art, Android powered, ‘Stoya’ model Pleasurebot.  Coming soon…

She’s about 3.5m tall and 3.5m wide and is currently in place on a side street parallel to Water Lane in Camden (but the other side of the train tracks). I thought she was finished just as the rain started then finally remembered to install her cybernetic glowing LED eye just to give it that final futuristic touch. Hopefully it’ll be working for the next few weeks and we’ll be able to get a night shot before it runs out. Many thanks to The Real Art of Street Art  for sorting the space for us!

Distinct Pleasure

Distinct Pleasure

Distinct Pleasure

I’m not entirely sure who’s had the distinct pleasure of doing what in this picture. We certainly had the distinct pleasure of painting it. You could have the distinct pleasure of owning it. Or maybe it’s that the lady who is gazing serenely to the right has had the distinct pleasure of being featured in one of our pictures. It really isn’t for me to say.

Cheers
