The Common Pink

Well will you look at that, did you know that the colour pink was named after the flower ‘pink’ or, to give it its proper name, Dianthus plumarius? Every day is a learning day. Rose here used to think they named roses after her. She’s just learned it was the other way round. Her mind is blown…

She’s A4 in size and made using acrylic, paint pen and watercolour. Drop us a line if you’d like her to brighten your wall. Then we can enter into negotiations. It’s how we do things round here.

Love Gun

It’s that time of day when we put up another little piece in the id-iom demolition sale and yet again it’s starting at just 99p. Here is the Ebay link

We all know that Eros is meant to have a bow and arrow that he fires to make people fall in love – as popularised by the statue in Piccadilly Circus. Well, it turns out that statue is actually of his brother, Anteros, who is the god of requited love (whilst Eros was the god of sexual love). Anyway we decided his hardware could do with an upgrade so here we’ve got his magical love 9mm. And it definitely packs a punch…

It’s a single level screen print with spraypaint, paint pen, ink and the magic of stencils.Signed on reverse.

Heart 2 Heart

As Tina Turner famously sang ‘What’s love got to do with it?‘. Quite a lot as it turns out as we’ve got representations of both modern day and prehistoric love in the one room. ‘How do you go about making this room complete?’ I hear you ask. Well, if there’s one thing love can do it’s to bring two previously unconnected hearts together – and that is exactly what we’ve done right here with the use of some red thread, making a tunnel of love if you will. The demolition crew are going to love this one when they finally arrive…

It was lust not love

It was lust not love

It was lust not love

The sad truth is i think we’ve all heard these words before and at the time it’s truly soul destroying but the truth is being told so I suppose there is something you can take from it. This woman though is just doing it for kicks and you call tell by the fact she still has her top undone when telling the unlucky fella that he has got his hopes up. I think the only thing he can take from this situation is the fact that at least he got to take her to bed before she broke his heart. I suppose every cloud has a silver lining.

Because he’s mine and I want to…

Because he's mine and i want to

Because he’s mine and i want to

I’m somewhat annoyed with myself. I came up with the title for this piece quite easily as it’s obviously emblazoned right across the front of the picture but i’m already thinking that was a trap best avoided. It’s because whenever I see the title an earworm attacks and I can’t help but think of the soul destroying tedium of Billie Piper with her number 1 smash hit ‘Because we want to‘. I’d include a link to it but for some reason you can’t get it on youtube and i’d just be being cruel anyway.

I think the inspiration behind this piece is the idea that some women can get a little possessive over their man and then blame it on a little thing called love. Although the lack of clothing on this particular lady would suggest that she is using her power in an entirely different way…

Forward the March, the Burden and the Glow.

Forward the march. The burden and the glow.

Forward the march. The burden and the glow.

Today, with the sun shining and all being well with the world we have a piece about love. But not your soppy Mills & Boon style romance. Oh no, this is about the kind of love that can be dangerous. For all it’s attendant positives there is a darker side to love…

Sometimes love can just be a little to much for any one person. This is where it feels as if love has becomes a burden to be endured in the face of mounting difficulties in the hope that perseverance will keep the flame alive. Too often it is extinguished before it has faced true adversity and perhaps this is the test. Any that endure will surely last a lifetime. Luckily for this young lover’s other half she has already taken stock and decided to forward the march, the burden and the glow…
