Your urgent response needed

Christmas and New Year have been and gone so I guess our Yuletide Demolition Sale should just become the id-iom Demolition Sale (brought on by the demolition of our studio space – check our blog at http://www.thisisidiom.wordpress.com for some demolition porn soon). Anyway, i digress, we are starting this fantastically amusing piece at £2.99 as we’ve checked and that is the cost to replace the luscious hand made rag paper that this oneofakind screen print is printed on. This is an original 2 layer screen print on some fancy hand dyed (by us) handmade (by somebody else) rag paper. It will look lovely framed so i’m expecting some lively bidding. Here’s the link

This entirely original document was recovered from an archaeological dig in the American mid-west which just goes to show that email, and by extension, email scams have been around for a lot longer than you’d have thought. I’m guessing since about the 1880’s judging by the carbon dating result on this unique artefact. And if you’ll believe that I can let you have it for the bargain price of one million dollars!

Oh how amusing to think of strong-armed cowboys getting blagged by this simple phishing email attack. If only they had the sophistication of us modern day internet warriors! Then they could never be fooled!

In all seriousness though I am a convert to the world of scam emails. I used to get quite annoyed with the amount of missives I received asking for my assistance in getting millions of dollars out of Africa – but now I just love them. I can’t get enough. I grade them on spelling ability, blag appeal, amount of money offered and various other key indicators then I pick the best for a re-design (although sometimes I can’t help but correct spelling mistakes). I really hope someone likes this enough to buy it so I can be vindicated in my obsession and forge ahead and do more.

Also, it is, of course, taken from a ‘genuine’ scam mail so if you are into scam baiting then feel free to email Mr Mark Aburi (at aburimar777@gmail.com) and see what you can get away with…

Cheers

Pigeon Grenades

Pigeon Grenades. Good Price.

Pigeon Grenade – cryptic advertising wheatpaste

Living in London it’s  sometimes hard to ignore the pigeons that are constantly hanging around looking shifty with their scruffy wings and malformed feet. They are particularly numerous around the city centre and obviously flock around you whenever you produce something to eat. Well now we have the answer. Pigeon Grenades! Safe to use – even in an urban environment. They will blow those suckers right out of the sky with a minimum of collateral damage. Get them now whilst the good prices last. Email Mark for details…

I first came across Mark Aburi when he sent me an email promising a sizeable share of several million dollars if only i’d help him shift it out of Africa. Since then I’ve decided to do my best to make sure he gets some emails – although they probably aren’t quite the emails he was hoping for. Welcome to id-iom’s continued attempt at artistic scam-baiting. You can view our earlier efforts herehere and here.

Please feel free to get in touch with Mark (at aburimar777@gmail.com) about Pigeon Grenades, any of our earlier efforts or just about any topic at all as he’s happy to help on any issue – from the mundane to the world-shatteringly important. Just drop him a line…

Mysteries solved. No job too small.

Mysteries solved. No job too small.

I’m on a roll now with our take on scam baiting. It all started when I received an email from aburimar777@gmail.com kindly offering me 40% of $5.5 million if I could help him get it out of Burkina Faso. I liked his brazen approach but thought his email could do with a little work so decided to give it a little style makeover (see here).  We’ve also used his email on a few bizarre posters with the hope that he’ll receive some fun emails to brighten up his day. Now we’ve reinvented him as a man who’ll help you sort absolutely any of life’s mysteries – from the trivial to the more challenging philosophical conundrums. I’m just hoping that a few bored commuters are going to be mystified enough to take up his kind offer and chuck him an email…

Please help!

Please help!

Who can resist such a plaintive cry for assistance? And such a cute looking pigeon to boot. I certainly couldn’t resist and if I found Percy I would definitely be straight on to aburimar777@gmail.com to let him know exactly where his lost pet could be found.

We’ve delighted in a bit of ‘artistic scam baiting‘ before but are taking the use of the scammer’s email address to new heights. We have crafted a poster for his lost ‘pigeon’ in the hopes that someone will help out in the search for Percy. There’s a lot of pigeons in London but this one is quite distinctive as pigeons go as i’m sure you can tell. If you have any leads at all I’m sure he’d appreciate if you get in touch. It may brighten up his otherwise tedious day of sending countless emails trying to con strangers out of their hard earned money…

Below is perhaps my favourite scam baiting related video whereby the scammers were encouraged to make their own version of Monty Python‘s ‘dead parrot‘ sketch purely for the scam baiters amusement. It simply does not get any better than this. Pure internet gold…
