The fate that awaits

We have previous with Martin here. Just the other day we told you about how he boarded a train to nowhere after complaining to Southwestern Rail when he missed the last train to Bristol (entirely his own fault). Perhaps you have been wondering whatever happened to that poor soul. Well, let me clear that up for you…

Martin was stuck on that train for what felt like an eternity to him but was, in fact, more like 3 days. Just long enough for people to start getting worried about him but not long enough for it to be an unsolved mystery.

Martin’s memory of the whole thing was hazy at best and the little he could remember couldn’t be explained without him sounding like a madman. He didn’t want that, he had responsibilities, and so he kept schtum about the whole matter. He never again sent a moody message to Southwestern Rail though. Or anyone else for that matter. What’s the moral of this story? You’ll just have to work it out for yourself…

Cheers

Man in the mirror

Things have been getting a little weird since lockdown. The intense boredom and general anxiety mix together in some odd combinations. In order to combat this I thought a self-portrait may be in order. I was wrong.

Looking at the paper in front of me I saw myself staring back or at least some facsimile of me – but things just weren’t quite right. The head too elongated, the nose too small but the dead, lifeless eyes I seemed to have got just right.

Then I realised it wasn’t really me but that unflinching dolt High Risk Hugo. A stain on society if ever I saw one. A man who on his good days was more like Chuck Norris on flakka trying to chat up your girlfriend but on his bad days the social equivalent of someone slipping a dead slug in your mouth and holding it shut.

I’ll not be doing another selfie anytime soon. We don’t need to let that particular cat out of the bag…

21 grams pure white

There was a scientific study published in 1907 by Duncan MacDougall which hypothesised that souls have a physical weight and this could be measured by simply weighing a patient both before and after death. The weight that he came up with for the soul? Why 21 grams of course. I’m just guessing at it’s purity and colour with ‘pure white’ but I think we’d all be a little disappointed if it was black and mixed up with some other bodily detritus like a dirty little snot ball.

Anyway, if you’ve ever wanted an id-iom piece but didn’t have the dollar then worry no further. We’re doing a little edition of A4 hot foil prints for £15 unframed (+ postage). Drop us a line if you’re interested in ’21 grams pure white’.

The Unabridged Soul

Today on eBay we have ‘The Unabridged Soul’. Click on the link below to go to our eBay shop:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392180030193

This piece had been hanging around unfinished for an unbelievably long time before I recently decided that enough was enough and that she was going to get finished whether I liked it or not. Usually this kind of tactic just won’t work and will probably send the artist into a tailspin. And that’s exactly what happened. I just sat there staring dumbly at it as empty thoughts drifted by lazily. In essence I was doing exactly what I was trying to prevent. The muse really is quite slippery when she wants to be.

Anyway this is where working in a partnership can come in handy. I decided if I couldn’t think of anything i’d see what the other half of id-iom had to say and, lo and behold, he had quite a lot to say on the matter. So, to cut a long story short I decided to do exactly what I was told and take the thinking out of it. And this is what you get. It’s got real buttons on it for goodness sake! Fab-u-lous!

Cheers

Let it drip from my soul

Today’s eBay piece is ‘Let it drip from my soul’. You can check it on the link below:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392166550379

Some people say soul music drips with emotion but with this lady it is in fact her actual soul that’s slowly dripping away. She’s currently happy with that as well for she doesn’t really seem to care about normal life much any more, if at all. All that interests her now are things like dubious liaisons with pretty men, driving fast cars at breakneck speeds, getting her daily recommended intake of water through vodka and taking enough drugs to take down a fully grown elephant and its calf. And somehow she does all this with a wink and a smile.

To some she’s killing herself and to others she’s living her life to the full. Either way I hope she’ll grow out of it soon because i’m pretty sure it doesn’t have a happy ending…

Cheers

I’ve managed to misplace my soul

If you want to see what happens when you give one of us a polystyrene head to play with then you’ve come to the right place. And boy are you in for a treat. Here we have ‘I’ve managed to misplace my soul’ featuring a somewhat dark creation that could surely haunt your dreams for years to come. If only he wasn’t a disembodied plastic display product. The other half of id-iom’s interpretation of the same head will be forthcoming shortly. I can only imagine you will be on the edge of your seat til then…
