Sod it Rick! Not again!

It’s time to check up on an old piece and see how it’s getting on. The first time we saw black sphere 004 he was shiny and new and this is what we said:

Today’s sphere is out living life in the real world. It’s watched one too many episodes of Rick and Morty and has decided to go on an inter-dimensional trip of its own. It has chosen our world. Quite why it is examining a moss covered wall is anyone’s guess. What Black Sphere 004 will make of it would also be well beyond our range of reckoning. Perhaps it will declare war. Perhaps it will stop for a picnic. Only time will tell…

Now though we can see that time hasn’t been kind to black sphere 004. He obviously decided he liked what he saw and stayed a while, a little too long maybe. Maybe this is what happens to sphere’s when they decide to hang around on earth…

Cheers

The Sphere – id-iom & Background Bob

“I’m surprised that no one’s mentioned yet that the reductive quality of the purity of line seems very disturbing in light of the eloquence of this piece” said the The Instant Art Critique Phrase Generator when I asked it about this work. A truer word has never been spoken. Probably. No one really knows what the spheres are up to anyway so it’s as good a guess as any.

This piece was done in collaboration with the inimitable @background_bob. Cheers for letting us get involved and best of luck with the project!

Gotcha!

Stencilled lady. Mysterious sphere. Circle game tattoo. I’ve really outdone myself with this one and combined some of my favourite things into one image. If I got you with the circle game tattoo then you can just punch yourself in the arm and we’ll call it quits. If you know then it needs no explaining and if you don’t then that’s what the internet is for. Right, what’s next?

She’s on A2 and has been made using the magic of stencils, spraypaint and imagination. Drop us a line if you’d like to give her a new home. I think she’d like that…

Sphere of Influence

We haven’t seen one of the spheres out and about in a while. This one seems to have taken an intense interest in this young lady’s rainbow coloured hair and has been following her around for days now. Quite what it’s doing is entirely unknown.

Whilst most people may be a little concerned that a ominous orb has been shadowing their every move Emilia here doesn’t mind so much as it looks great as a mysterious background for her Instagram pictures. She’s been gaining followers at quite a rate but she has been having some rather odd thoughts of late…

She’s on a 40cm wide circular canvas board and was made using the magic of acrylic paint pouring, a touch of manual dexterity, some imagination, stencils and spray paint. She’s available to be rehomed so drop us a line if you’d like her to live with you…

Make them smile!/Sphere no.9

I’ve got my hands on some wooden panels and since they’ve got 2 paintable sides I thought that I may as well go ahead and do just that and get some more double sided pieces on the go. Behold the first creation.

Side one features a new demotivational piece – ‘Make them smile’ and some snazzy colour fades.

Side 2 features a mysterious sphere floating serenely above some yellow and red flower like devices. What is it doing? Your guess is as good as mine…

What more could you want? It’s on a 60 x 40cm wooden board and is made using the magic of spraypaint, stencils and imagination. Drop us a line if interested.

Feeling a little discombobulated

Today’s sphere is somewhat discombobulated. It thought it was meant to be studying basic human interactions but has managed to do so at an illegal rave in the Essex countryside. There’s laser lights, strobes, sweaty ravers, day glo clothing and loud pumping psychedelic trance coming from a nearby speaker pyramid. People seem to be happy but there are many confusing interactions. How is Grey sphere 004 meant to process this? Perhaps it’s best if it heads outside for a quick sit down to get its head together…

It’s on A2 paper and has been made using the magic of spraypaint, stencils  and a misspent youth. Drop us a line if interested.

In the Land of Grey and Pink

Today’s sphere has been around for quite a while now. It’s been studying earth culture since it’s appearance shortly after the first nuclear tests in the 1940’s. It was diligently doing it’s job cataloguing and analysing whatever it would come across until one fateful day in the late 60’s when it ‘accidentally’ ingested some acid with English progressive rock band Caravan whilst they were recording their critically well received but commercially unsuccessful third album ‘In the Land of Grey and Pink’. Since then all it has studied are things that are grey and pink. It’s unsure exactly what he’s studying here but he’s clearly enjoying it.

He’s on A2 and has been made using the magic of spraypaint, stencils and imagination. Drop us a line if interested…

Of every stripe

Sometimes I really not sure if i believe wikipedia. I was looking for some inspiration for this here write up and looked up ‘stripes’. According to Wikipedia ‘stripes on clothing first appeared in the Medieval times. During that era, only prisoners, criminals, clowns, prostitutes, hangmen, etc. were seen wearing a black and white stripped garment.’ This paragraph is then finished with ‘During the 60s and 70s, more and more people started to wear striped shirts as the garment was seen as a symbol of rebellion.’ Now I’m no scholar on stripes but that all sounds like a load of balderdash to me.

Anyway, I digress, today’s sphere is examining some microscopic stripes that are barely visible to the human eye. I’ve magnified the picture enough so it’s all clearly visible. Why she’s examining the microscopic stripes is anyone’s guess. She’s on A2 and has been made using the magic of stripes, stencils, spraypaint and imagination. Drop us a line if interested…
