Party in a Pear Tree

You know Christmas is on the way when we get a call from events company Elsewhere as they need a little id-iom design pep to complete their party preparations. This year consisted mainly of design for print and laser cutting a load of bespoke Elsewhere Christmas decorations. The Party in a Pear Tree wallpaper design was used both as a wallpaper and as some giftwrap for the fake presents under the tree. It would seem id-iom is the complete design package after all…

id-iom xmas decoration – What did Multiple Miggs say?

Before we start let me just say you should remember that it wasn’t me that swore. It was you. Just remember that.

For today’s heartwarming Christmas decoration we’ve got a simple question ‘What did Mulitple Miggs say?’. Gather the kids round and everyone can shout out the answer together in a beautiful harmony in true Christmas spirit. The answer is, of course, taken from that quintessentially festive film, The Silence of the Lambs. If you don’t know then perhaps it’s best it stays that way.

Designed by my fair hand but cut by laser robot out of 5mm ply. Well, it’s not strictly speaking a robot but I like to think so. Then, a lick of spray paint and a ribbon is added and she’s good to go. The tree is looking better day by day…

id-iom xmas decoration – let’s not talk about politics

With Christmas already begun by many of the bigger corporations we thought it about time we kick off our Christmas campaign with the first in our series of thoughtful and heartwarming decorations to adorn the id-iom Christmas tree.

‘Let’s not talk about politics’ is a somewhat blunt but still very thoughtful Christmas message. Family arguments have sprung up about less. Firmly aimed at one of my family (hi Mum!) we can only hope this comes to pass. But i doubt it.

Whatever festive message will we have next…

It’s not like there was anything good on anyway…

As part of ongoing sojourn into painting some weird stuff we’ve painted up 8 monitor screens that are to be used as part of a giant Christmas tree made up of screens. Apparently most of the screens will playing little video’s on a loop and we had to take care of the non functioning ones.  Hopefully some pictures of the big beast in action will be forthcoming. We were asked to make them a little ‘Christmassy’ so we did our best considering it was us doing them. Anyway, they are what they are and I just hope they went down well.

Dashing through the snow…

We get some odd requests from time to time so when we were asked to paint up a wooden cutout set consisting of Santa, some snowmen, a couple of reindeer, a Xmas tree and a sleigh we thought it sounded like fun. Painting outside in freezing conditions however is not the most fun. If you combine the two then this is the end result.

Sinister Santa looks like he’s been on the Red Stripe all morning and he cares not that he’s pulled up on some double yellow lines, the reindeer appear to have been vandalised, the sleigh pimped, the tree dipped in psychedelics and the snowmen look like the result of some abominable colour based genetic tampering. It must have been quite the night. Let’s just hope it’s his final blowout before his Xmas rush…

A Fiery Soft Mess

I know, I know. It’s an odd title for both a blog post and a picture but there you have it. I’m not going to back down on this one…

What can i say about ‘A Fiery Soft Mess’? Well ‘A-mazing!’ and ‘Lovin it!’ are just two of the top-level superlatives already applied to this piece (albeit on our flickr page 😉 )  but if nothing else she is impressive in dimensions (over a metre tall/wide) although she is painted on a big piece of wood! What springs to mind when i say the words ‘A Fiery Soft Mess’? In fact don’t answer that and just enjoy the picture. In fact pointedly don’t answer the question of what springs to mind when i say ‘A Fiery Soft Mess’. At least we resisted the urge to colour her nipple in. I think i prefer it that way now although I was chief advocate of nipple painting at the time the issue was under question. It just goes to show that you do live and learn.

Keep tuned for the next week’s truism

I Love Kittens

I was obviously in a somewhat romantic/strange mood as also got ‘Birds of a feather’ up as well although i think it was the somewhat desperate looking leafless branch that set the wheels in motion for this one. And, i suppose, the fact that i just love to brighten up a drab looking wall…
