We’ve all been there, you’re having a massive argument with some insufferable dolt and for one reason or another you storm off, only to come up with the wittiest retort known to mankind but alas you’re too late. L’esprit de l’escalier is a French term used in English for the predicament of thinking of the perfect reply just a bit too late.
Just imagine, Sarah here is now storming down the stairs from a party where she just had the weirdest argument with Michael and Justin from no.22. Now she’s about six stairs down her brain has just supplied her with the perfect retort to Justin’s ridiculous argument that Trump was probably right about injecting bleach. Now her biggest question is whether to remain walking down the stairs and retain some dignity or aboutheel back to the party to loudly point out to Justin the fallacies in his reasoning and the fact he’s undoubtedly talking bollocks. Decisions, decisions, decisions…

In just the days it’s taken to move from unsubstantiated claim into production they’ve even managed to cram in ‘added heat and light’ and we all know that can only be a good thing when combatting viruses. It even works in under a New York minute. Now that’s speedy. Where’s my hypodermic? If you want to use it after just let me know…
There I was, minding my own business whilst reading through the news when I must have read something about Trump standing for re-election because the next thing I know I have this image flashing unbidden into my mind. Tiny hands included. Rather than try to understand or reason with these thoughts I’ve found it easier to just make it so in an attempt to exorcise such egregious ideas. I should probably get back to some real work…
With our first day back to work today, I thought I’d share what I’ve managed to get done since the new year. Here we have Lolan on his knees praying to whatever deity he believes in. I’m not entirely sure what he’s praying about but with the state of affairs in the world today it could be anything from the Australian bush fires to Trump’s opening gambit in World War III or maybe he’s just thankful that the Masked Singer is on. It’s really not for me to say but it does seem like we have our backs to the wall and its only the 6th of January. What I can say though, is that Lolan here is number three of four figurines that I’m working on and as you can see I’m in full-on procrastination mode when it comes to the hands…
Sometimes Donald Trump is difficult to ignore. Not only is he President of the USA but he loves to tweet like a madman on ephedrine. He’s come out with many cromulent quotes designed to embiggen his own reputation and has even delved into the world of neology with such memorable words as ‘schlonged’ and, of course, ‘covfefe’, which is admittedly probably a typo but when you’re President you’ve got to watch our for such things as spelling.
Once you combine this with his opulent orange permatan, luxurious thatch of downy hair and tiny hands then you’ve definitely got a character worthy of some id-iom attention. The main quote used was from 2013 Twitter tirade and is, of course, about the man himself but I had to incorporate my second favourite quote ‘I know words. I have the best words’ which really elaborates on his eloquence.
He’s lasercut on wood then lovingly hand painted. As it’s the Trumpster I saw fit to include some gold paint, silver leaf, sequins, crystal resin and some pilfered logos. And there you have it. Drop us a line if interested.
We here at id-iom aren’t really what you would call political beasts and we generally leave that kind of thing to others but occasionally things happen in the world which it’s difficult to ignore. My ‘thing’ consisted of watching the news last Sunday and being somewhat dismayed about what I was hearing about America’s newest leader. Not that it was qualitatively different to the nonsense that had come before but it somehow just made me fully realise that this perma-tanned narcissist was now ‘the leader of the free world’. Weird or what?
Anyway, a few days before i’d watched a video on caricatures so thought i’d give it a quick go with the Donald. Apparently the first thing you have to do is accentuate the part that represents most about him, so as you can see i drew his mouth a little puckered up and then put the symbol of free America – the bald eagle – as a little comedy bird which now lives in his wig. And that’s that. Politics class is over.
